Our Individual, Guest Services Volunteers make our Houses feel like a “home-away-from-home.” Guest Services Volunteers maintain a set schedule of 2-hour shifts weekly or biweekly. Guest Services Volunteers must be at least 18-years-old and commit to at least 6 months of service, subject to our needs.

Volunteer Opportunities:

• Administrative Volunteer
Assist our volunteer management team with administrative tasks as needed.

• Front Desk Volunteer
Be the “host or hostess” of our House. Greet guests and volunteers, answer phones, help with family check-ins, and give tours.

• House Refresher Volunteer
Help keep our House clean and organized. Clean play areas, organize library, wipe down tables, re-stock items around the House, sanitize toys, etc.

• Kitchen Queen or King
Help keep our kitchen spotless and welcoming for families and meal groups. Clean out refrigerators, empty dishwashers, re-stock kitchen supplies, etc.

4. Complete a criminal background check
5. Schedule and complete your first day of training
6. Set up your volunteer schedule with our Volunteer Services Manager, Kelsey McCullough.

Due to the unique nature of all volunteer placements, it is our policy to not accept any volunteer placements by any court-mandated referrals.

Our Meal Volunteers provide a well-balanced meal to warm the hearts and bellies of families when they return from a long day at the hospital.

This program is for groups with a maximum of 12 volunteers at our House near Egleston and up to 10 volunteers at our House near Scottish Rite. All volunteers must be at least 9 years old and accompanied by an adult chaperone if under 18 years old.

Volunteer Opportunities:

• Nightly Dinners
Prepare and serve a nutritious dinner at our House for the families as they return from the hospital. Program available 7 days a week from 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

• Breakfast & Brunch
The most important meal of the day is breakfast! Schedule a morning to prepare breakfast at one of our Houses. Program available seven days a week.

• Bakers Club
Bake sweet treats for our families to enjoy. Program available Monday – Friday 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.

• Casserole Club
Prepare nourishing casseroles to be stored in our freezers and served as needed. Program available Monday – Friday 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.

We welcome a variety of groups to help maintain our house and make it feel like a “home-away-from-home for our families.

Group Volunteer Opportunities:

• Family Meal Program, Baker’s Club and Casserole Club
Volunteers provide nightly dinners, breakfast and other treats for our families. These opportunities are open to groups with a maximum of 12 volunteers at our House near Egleston and up to 10 volunteers at our House near Scottish Rite. All volunteers between ages of 9 and 18 years old require a chaperone. Refer to family meal guidelines and Meal Volunteers section (above) for additional details.

• Family Activity Night
Lead our families in an activity of your choosing after dinner. This program is available Monday – Thursday 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Groups of 5-8 volunteers are welcome. Volunteers must be 9 years old or older. All volunteers under 18 require a chaperone.

Our goal is to provide families with a variety of age-appropriate opportunities for activities, entertainment, and education while staying at the House.

This program is available Monday – Thursday 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Groups of up to 5-8 volunteers are welcome over 9 years old. All volunteers 18 and under require a chaperone. 

Family activities may include:

• Arts & crafts
• Performance of music, dances, and/or plays
• Manicure night
• Flower arranging
• Game night
• Bingo night with prizes (we have a Bingo set)
• Healthy living activities

Pop Tab Program
Individuals, schools, businesses and corporations can help raise funds by saving pop tabs from aluminum cans and recycling them for the proceeds to benefit our Houses. Learn More.

Wish List Drive
Collect items that are crucial to making our House a home. Download Wish List.

Host a Fundraising Event
Host an event and donate the proceeds to benefit our Houses. Office jeans day, garage sale, lemonade stand, you name it! Learn More.

Hygiene Kits
Not sure what to do with extra hotel shampoos and soaps? Combine those items with toothpaste, a toothbrush, hand sanitizer, travel size deodorant, etc. and you have a complete hygiene kit for a family in need. Contact us about donating hygiene kits to our families.

Teen Council
This program is for high school students ages 15 – 18 interested in participating in a Teen Board that raises funds, volunteers and advocates for Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities. Teen Council Members serve from October – May. Download application here.

VolunTEEN
This program is for high school students ages 15 – 18 looking for rewarding, hands-on volunteer work during their summer break. *Please note: This year, The VolunTEEN Program is only offered at the House near Scottish Rite.*  Applications are now closed.

Teen Council applications close on September 27.
