06 Sep All the Pizza for Michael
“Mark told me that Michael deserved a pizza the size of a hula hoop after his surgery,” says Luke Boswell, dad to Michael.
Michael, 11, from Sylvania, Georgia, is in sixth grade and enjoys playing tennis and baseball, wrestling, and racing dirt bikes.
In April, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his right femur and began chemotherapy at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. A couple months later, Michael had fibular reconstruction surgery.
Luke and Michael’s mom have been staying with us at our House near Scottish Rite since Michael began treatment. “The House makes treatments so much easier and allows me and my wife to take turns staying in the hospital with him,” Luke says.
Michael loves to play in our game room, especially with his siblings when they come to visit. They appreciate being able to be together as a family at our House.
A few weeks ago, Mark Sherlock, one of Luke’s suppliers for his business, provided a pizza dinner for our families in honor of Michael.
After Michael’s surgery, Mark said that he deserved a pizza. “But after I said that I realized that Michael, his family, and all the other children and families deserved a great meal and special time together, and I thought pizza would brighten everyone’s day,” Mark says.
