26 Jul Home-Away-From-Home for a Blue-Eyed and Big-Hearted Boy
“’Hey there, Blue’ is what his grandmother said when she held him for the first time and noticed his big and beautiful blue eyes,” says Ashley Fair, Addison’s mom.
Addison Jones, 17, from Dublin, Georgia, is known to most people as “Blue.”
Blue enjoys playing video games, fishing, drawing, spending time with his family, and playing with his best buddy and puppy, Oliver.
When Blue was 7, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, leaving him wheelchair bound and now receives weekly infusions of Eteplirsen at home.
“It is a blessing for Blue to be able to receive these infusions in the comfort of our home, but most of his specialists are located in Atlanta,” Ashley says. Blue’s family stays at our Ronald McDonald House near Scottish Rite when they come for his appointments.
Being provided with a safe and comfortable place to stay close to Blue’s doctors has taken a weight off their shoulders, Ashley says.
Blue loves that our House is accommodating. He is happy to have plenty of room to maneuver his powerchair while exploring and is especially grateful that his Hoyer lift can fit under his bed.
“Traveling is one of the more difficult parts of our journey, and Atlanta RMHC has given us peace of mind and made it so much easier,” Ashley says.
