05 Oct Update on Wesley: Cancer Patient Becomes Star Student
We have good news to report. Remember our little friend, Wesley, 6, and his grandmother, Jeanese Crowell, from Warner Robbins, who stayed with us this summer at our Ronald McDonald House near Egleston and partner hotels? During their stay with us, they discovered that laughter and making silly faces lifted their spirits after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Today, Wesley is back in school and responding well to his treatments for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. The turnaround in his health has helped him renew his focus on his studies. In fact, Wesley has been accepted into the Advanced Program at Georgia Cyber Academy for the 2021-2022 school year. Jeanese couldn’t be more proud!
Jeanese said the Advanced Program is intended to help ensure academic success and provide a rich experience that inspires Wesley’s love of learning in the class and throughout life.
Thankfully, so far, Wesley has only monthly check-in calls with his oncology team since his treatment this summer.
“Staying at the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House was a blessing from Jehovah God,” Jeanese says. “We have such a great love for all the staff who showed us so much love and respect.”
