26 Mar Urgent: Support families through Atlanta RMHC’s COVID-19 Response Fund
I have been inspired by your compassion and concern for our families and hope this message finds you and your family healthy and well despite these unprecedented times. We are incredibly grateful for your support and wanted to keep you informed as we continue to navigate our ever-changing world.
While the world seems to change by the minute, our commitment to families seeking life-saving medical care for their children is unwavering. As I write, there are currently 35 families at our Houses. Many, like Billy Johnson, are immunocompromised. Based on expert advice, in an effort to protect these families and prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to limit the families at our Houses to those currently in our care for at least the next 17 days.
Despite Coronavirus, moms are still having babies who are born premature or with congenital heart defects and must remain in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for weeks or months. Life-saving surgeries are still taking place. And children with cancer must still bravely battle on.
Like many, these families are scared and they need you — and the Ronald McDonald House — today more than ever.
We are pivoting to find new ways to meet the critical needs of families currently in our care — and those who will soon need us. We are identifying and underwriting hotel accommodations for those unable to be sheltered in our Houses and continuing to provide meals, support and housing to those currently staying with us. We also remain in touch with the medical community to ensure the health and well-being of our families.
Unfortunately, we can’t support these families without you. If you are in a position to help, please consider a gift to the COVID-19 Response Fund today. Every gift makes a difference and together we can support families through these challenging times.
Thank you for your continued support. I am deeply grateful for you and wish you and your family good health as we navigate this pandemic together.
With gratitude,
Beth Howell
