Andrew and family at Atlanta RMHC

Andrew Celebrates Health & Recovery

Andrew-RT-for-webAtlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities (ARMHC) is there for families during challenging times. But this special “home-away-from-home offers support long after families return back to their homes.

Cassie and Craig Gentry found refuge at our House near Egleston last year when their youngest son, Andrew, was born with a congenital heart defect. Inside his tiny heart, the two main arteries were transposed – switched in position.

On February 21, 2013, Andrew underwent a successful heart transposition surgery at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Exactly one year later, the Gentry family returned to our House to recount their time there, and remember just how much the House meant to them during their time of need.

Cassie and Craig visited the ARMHC staff that they now consider family, and met many of the new families staying there. Andrew and his older brother Dawson also enjoyed a fun game of tennis with ARMHC volunteers. The family even brought along their dog, Butter, who joined in on the celebration!
