Late in September, Vulcan Materials Company executive Jimmy Fleming arrived at the Peachtree-Dunwoody Ronald McDonald House to present a $5,000 check to adopt a room. “Vulcan is really excited to partner with Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities,” Fleming said.

The recovery of their 18-year-old son from a traumatic brain injury and Marcia Rohan’s as a nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta—Scottish Rite led to a visit with the resident manager and a new “job” of having “dinner with the families, and just talking to them” once a week. Now, she and husband, Howard, also dish out dinner once a month with fellow volunteer Pam Kelly, for 10 years now.

Twice a month, John Brothers and Sunny Williams get up early Sunday morning to help clean house. Not their house, our Peachtree-Dunwoody House. “My husband John and I are morning people and get up early even on weekends,” Williams said. “When we participated in the volunteer training, it was clear there was a need for morning volunteers. Project Pinball donated a Guardians of the Galaxy pinball machine to our Peachtree-Dunwoody House near Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Scottish Rite and a Star Wars machine to our Gatewood House near Egleston.
