11 Jan Congratulations to the 2022 winner of our BMW Raffle, Helen Carlos!

At the December 6 Atlanta Hawks game, our four finalists, Gail Rapa, Becky Bolden, Helen Carlos and Michael Potapow, selected a key hoping it would unlock a brand-new BMW. Cheerleaders, the Hawks’ mascot, and fans watched and cheered on the finalists.

On the third attempt, Helen unlocked the BMW. When she clicked the key, the car beeped, the headlights flashed, the crowd, including those inside the arena, roared with excitement.

“I can honestly say that I feel honored to have won and will always think of Atlanta RMHC as I drive my new BMW,” Helen says. “I am still in shock and cannot believe I picked the lucky key.”

Harry, the mascot, shot confetti canons and the cheerleaders celebrated as Helen took her seat behind the wheel of her new car. The moment was broadcasted onto the big screen inside the arena.

“What I love most about Atlanta RMHC is that families have a home away from home to go to when their child is in the hospital or receiving treatment,” Helen says. “It’s quite stressful to have a sick child and being able to have a hot meal, a warm bed and an inviting atmosphere instead of a sterile one truly brings it full circle.”

This was Helen’s first time to win in a raffle or drawing, despite participating in the BMW Raffle for 10 years. When Helen got the call that she was one of our finalists, she was shocked. “I started laughing hysterically and could not believe it,” Helen says. “l love the fact that 100 percent of the money goes back to the charity to help families.”
