27 Jun Happy Tails visits our Families
Several times a month, our Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses are visited by a very special group of volunteers. These four-legged friends are known as Happy Tails. These dogs, cats and rabbits travel around the Atlanta area to local hospitals, nursing homes, special-needs programs, and many other locations to serve as therapy animals for children and families.
The mission of this non-profit organization is to “share the unconditional love of pets with people of all ages with physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs at healthcare facilities, social agencies, and special needs programs.” Each animal is evaluated to ensure they are fit to assist with pet therapy needs.
With a lot of our families being away from their pets, Happy Tails gives the families comfort and love and helps fill the void. These animals bring incredible amounts of joy into our Houses. The pets and their owners get just as much out of it as our children and families do!
We are forever grateful for the support of this incredible organization.
