21 Apr Celebrating Mother’s Day with the Obajimi Family
With the air smelling of butter and sugar, counters covered in flour, and frosting-coated hands, mother Fumbi Obajimi almost forgets that she’s not in her home country of Nigeria. Instead, she and her husband and their one-year-old daughter, Mimi, are baking together at our Ronald McDonald House. Fumbi’s sugar cookies celebrate the warm, sweet love of a mother while being 6,000 miles from home. Layers of love and hope are the nutrients that will give Fumbi the strength to face another day while Mimi recovers from a lifesaving liver transplant.
Fumbi and her husband traveled to the United States seeking better treatment options for their sick child, Mimi. Not knowing anyone in the United States and having nowhere to stay, the Obajimi family found a refuge at the Ronald McDonald House.
For the Obajimis, our House will forever hold the memories of celebrating Mimi’s 1st birthday and spending quality time together baking in the kitchen. These priceless moments wouldn’t be possible without the kindness from friends like you.
While mothers staying at our House will likely forget to take a moment for themselves on this day of celebration, we hope you will consider making a donation in their honor. Your one-time or recurring monthly donation will honor not just the love and sacrifice of your own mom, but the love and sacrifice of the moms staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
Thank you for joining us in keeping families close.
