Bingo Night Brings Christmas in July for Gatewood Families

Sometimes, Christmas does come in July. Kattie Williams, House Manager for our House near Egleston, and her family organized a Bingo Night for our families staying over the July Fourth holiday.

“Our families inspire me,” says Kattie. “I can’t imagine being in a place far from home on a holiday that I would normally celebrate in my hometown with family.”

The Bingo Night and ice cream bar was organized at the suggestion of her daughter, Annabelle.

“We gave donated toys, sleeping bags, large Lego sets, and gaming systems as prizes so the families could have some fun and win some stuff!” Kattie says. “No one left empty handed.”

There was not an empty seat in the House, with Kattie and her family pulling in tables from the patio to accommodate everyone. Kattie’s brother, Jesse, her sister-in-law Barbara, along with her nieces, Jordan and Katerina, and step-daughter, Arianna, helped.

“It gave the families a chance to play and forget about medical treatment or stress at the hospital, while meeting new families at the same time,” Kattie says. “We all had so much fun, and we’re glad we could make it feel like a Christmas in July!”
