22 Oct Brothers’ Bake Sale Raises $700 for Restaurant Gift Cards for Our Families
Talk about a sweet treat! Meet Mindy Cozart’s three boys, Chandler, 13, Logan, 8 and Mason, 6, who raised $700 through a bake sale to purchase restaurant gift cards for our families who stay in hotels during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I enjoy bake sale fundraisers because it makes me feel connected to the House, just like when we cook could there,” says Chandler, who leads the brothers’ effort. If people didn’t want to buy a baked good, we provided a link for them to still donate.”
Chandler says the brothers also included our Amazon Wish List link for people to order.
Prior to the pandemic, Chandler volunteered with his teacher, Dr. Sunny Williams, one of our volunteers from Dickerson Middle School. His experience at the House inspired him to find a way to give back that included baking chocolate chip cookies and banana chocolate chip muffins to sell for $1 each.
“Dr. Williams was Chandler’s sixth grade English Language Art teacher,” Mindy says. “She got the kids involve in her classes. That’s how Chandler got started. She is definitely a huge advocate of Ronald McDonald House. I believe she got the entire Dickerson Middle School started and having staff volunteered as well.”
“We are now writing thank you notes to everyone who donated,” Chandler says.
