24 May Funny Faces Provide a Joyful Distraction for Jeanese Crowell and Her Grandson

Sometimes you just need to make silly faces like our friends, Jeanese Crowell and her grandson Wesley Crowell, 6, from Warner Robins, who are staying with us at our Ronald McDonald House near Egleston while Wesley receives radiation treatment for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a tumor on his brain.

The Crowells have been with us for 21 nights, including 15 nights at a partner hotel.

“It’s our way of keeping the joy,” Jeanese says of hers and Wesley’s little tradition to keep their spirits light. Wesley has been given a prognosis of 9 months to live, even with treatment.

Her favorite part of staying at the House is the “aroma of love” she feels. “I feel it just walking through the kitchen and seeing all that you have to offer, but particularly I feel it within the generosity received.”

Jeanese says it could be a simple “good morning” from a staff member to the kindness of donors at mealtimes. “We are so thankful for all of it.”

Wesley says his favorite part of staying with us is the snacks, but mostly the Goldfish.

Even with all they are going through, Jeanese is so inspired by Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities. “I thank God for your founders because without them I know none of this would be possible for Wesley.”
