17 Apr Claire Volunteers to Contribute to her Community
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, when we salute and honor the many dedicated and gracious volunteers, who help support our mission of helping families access equitable medical care and heal together.
Meet some of the volunteers who help care for our families. To all our volunteers, thank you for your unwavering support.
Claire Peterson
VolunTEEN member, Claire Peterson, says she volunteers “because I can see the tremendous impact this organization has on families as they go through unimaginable circumstances.”
Since her first year of high school in 2020, Claire has served as a VolunTEEN and on Atlanta RMHC’s Teen Council.
She was inspired to volunteer by one of her friends, McKinley Riddle, another Teen Council member. Claire watched McKinley participate in fun and impactful service activities and wanted to participate.
“Teen Council’s service projects and volunteer events looked exciting to me, and I knew that being a part of these would be a great way for me to contribute to my community,” Claire says.
Claire recently helped at an arts and crafts night at our Atlanta Ronald McDonald House near Scottish Rite. She loved being able to watch the children smile and interact with their families.
Her favorite activity was helping set up Ronald’s Holiday Shop. She enjoyed organizing the toy donations with her fellow Teen Council members. “It was so much fun to create a festive environment for the families and was an incredible chance to make the holiday season brighter for them,” Claire says.
When a parent expressed her gratitude for our volunteers to Claire, it made her realize that just an hour spent volunteering can make a world of difference.
