03 Mar Share the Love Spotlight: Audrey Herndon, Guest Services Volunteer
Thank you to our Share the Love Story Series sponsor, NAViGO. We so appreciate your support of our families.
- Why do you love Atlanta RMHC?
I love Atlanta RMHC because everyone involved is so passionate about the mission of the Charity and dedicated to the wellbeing of the families. Both of our Ronald McDonald Houses are truly a home away from home for families while they are in Atlanta confronting their child’s illness or injury.
- How has Atlanta RMHC made a difference in your life?
When you volunteer at Atlanta RMHC, you get back just as much as you give! The Gatewood House, in particular, is super special to me and the experiences I have had there have been integral to my development as a young adult. I believe I am a much more compassionate and empathetic person because of it. I am so excited that volunteers are returning! - If you could describe the charity with one word, what would the word be and why?
Family. When guests are at the House, they are our family, and I hope they feel the love, warmth, and compassion that we aim to give, and that I feel whenever I am there. - Why do you believe it is important for the community to support Atlanta Ronald McDonald House?
I believe it is our civic responsibility to give support to those who need it if we are able. Volunteers are a critical resource for charitable nonprofits. Specifically, volunteers at Atlanta RMHC take tasks off the hands of House managers and other staff members and allow them to focus on the families and other essential business. - Why do you give your time to Atlanta RMHC?
I give my time to Atlanta RMHC because keeping families together and supported through their child’s medical event is critical! Aside from being so personally rewarding, potentially easing a little stress from a child or family member’s day is the best part of volunteering at the House.
