05 Jun Meet Maddy Franklin, A Summer Marketing/Communications Intern

Meet one of our summer marketing and communications interns, Maddy Franklin, a rising sophomore at Agnes Scott College. Maddy joined our team to get hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector. After college, Maddy plans to pursue the digital media and entertainment industry.

Serving on the Hands On Atlanta Youth Action Council in 2016 sparked her interest in nonprofits.

“I, alongside a few of my peers, crafted a service event around the social issue of our choice, sex trafficking,” Maddy says. “Through this experience, I was able to learn about sex and human trafficking and its prevalence in Atlanta and the broader world.”

Maddy and the Council helped raise awareness and provide victims of trafficking support. “Itt was really the first time that I felt like I was truly contributing to the greater good,” Maddy says.

In addition to her Hands On Atlanta experience, a World Politics course inspired her with its discussions of prominent issues, which highlighted the organizations that addressed them.

“Working with Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities and making people, specifically children and families, feel supported is the basis on which the RMHC stands,” Maddy says, “so from every standpoint it just made sense that this was the place and position for me to make a contribution.”
