24 May Teen Council Member Adopts 100 Families for 1 Night with Pace Academy Service Learning Award

Teen Council member Brooks Nuckols, is adopting 100 families for 1 night at our Ronald McDonald Houses with her 2021 Pace Academy’s Cara Isdell Service Learning Award.

Teen Council member Brooks Nuckols, is adopting 100 families for 1 night at our Ronald McDonald Houses with her 2021 Pace Academy’s Cara Isdell Service Learning Award.

Brooks received $1,000 to help her favorite organization, Atlanta RMHC. This award is presented to students in ninth or tenth grades who best exemplify the ideal of service as reflected through outstanding commitment to Pace and the community with funding provided by Cara Isdell Lee, a 1997 Pace graduate.

“I was nominated because of my service work outside of school,” Brooks says. “I interviewed with a board of teachers who selected me and one other student for the award. I chose Atlanta RMHC because I’ve been on the Teen Council for 2 years and have gotten to see the amazing work that Ronald McDonald House has done for families and the impact this organization makes,” Brooks says.

Brooks is the daughter of Kimberly Nuckols, the Charity’s vice president of administration. “Brooks has grown up being exposed to community engagement with her family, her school and her church,” Kimberly says. “As she entered high school, we have been especially proud of her initiative and personal commitment to service projects of her choosing. It is a pleasure to watch Brooks’ efforts to help children and families in our community.”

“I love the Charity because all of the volunteers are so supportive and everyone works so hard to keep the children distracted and happy in tough times by sending Betty Lou to visit them, putting a treehouse in the building, stocking playrooms with toys and so much more,” Brooks says.
