Kate the Chemist activity

Kate the Chemist and Y-mAbs Therapeutics brew up fun activity and dinner for our families

Thank you to our friends, Kate the Chemist and Y-mAbs Therapeutics, for a wonderful science activity for our families recently at both our Ronald McDonald Houses and showing us how science is cool.

Vanessa and House team work the experiments

Vanessa Jennings and House team work the activity from Kate the Chemist.

Kate the Chemist led our families, including Vanessa Jennings, 14, through a fun science activity with the help of Kattie Williams, our House Manager, and Ansley Wetherington, our Volunteer and Program Services Coordinator.

“I can tell you that Vanessa appreciated an opportunity to have a little time hanging out with someone besides me,” says Shannon Jennings, mom to Vanessa who took part in the activity. “We actually get along very well, but we had spent two weeks in one room together at that point. Anyone would need a break after that much togetherness.”

The Jennings from Warner Robins, Georgia, stayed 17 nights with us, including 14 in one of our partner hotels with us while Vanessa had her radiation treatments. Shannon says Vanessa loves science and had been missing those classes.

“It’s not often we have patients who are interested in science,” says April Clark, our Director of Family and Volunteer Services, so “this was a great activity. Science was my favorite subject!”
